Uttarakhand is also known as devbhoomi and is abode to Hindu gods. It has lot of special places and cities like – Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Nainital and more. Most of these are hill stations as It forms the smallest part of The Great Himalayas knows as Duns or Doons. Haridwar is plain region where River Ganga arrives on to the land of India after travelling all the way through Rishikesh and higher regions. The land around Haridwar gets cool water of River Ganges. There are opportunities for river rafting as well. Apart from this, there are many shrines and temples . Temple of goddess Ganga is along the shores of Haridwar. The shrine of Har ki Paudi is sacred for Hindus. People believe to shun off their sins by bathing in the holy water. In Rishikesh, one gets to go through man made bridges of Ram setu and Lakshman setu. These bridges are considered to be made by our ancestors. They used to cross it over river Ganga and make their way through hilly area. The water in river is quick here as Rishikesh lies in upper region. Dehradun is capital of Uttarakhand and is an economic and educational hub. It has military centres for trainings of our brave soldiers.
